Xiaomi 14 Pro global launch cancelled, but Xiaomi 14 and Ultra variants still on track
Xiaomi fans who were looking forward to the global launch of the Xiaomi 14 Pro might be disappointed to learn that the device will not be available outside China. According to a report by Xiaomiui, the company has stopped working on the global ROM for the Xiaomi 14 Pro, which means that the device will not get a global version.
The Xiaomi 14 Pro was launched in China in October 2023, along with the Xiaomi 14. The Pro model features a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, a 108MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, a 12MP telephoto camera, and a 5,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging.
However, the Xiaomi 14 Pro might not be the only flagship device from Xiaomi that will miss out on a global launch. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra, which is expected to be unveiled in China next year, was also spotted on the EEC certification website with its global model number. This suggests that the device will be launched in some regions, but not all.
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is rumoured to be a premium variant of the Xiaomi 14 series, with a 6.9-inch AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3+ processor, a 200MP main camera, a 64MP ultra-wide camera, a 12MP telephoto camera, and a 6,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging.
On the other hand, the Xiaomi 14, which is the base model of the series, is still expected to have a global and Indian launch. The device was seen on the BIS certification website in India, indicating that it will be released in the country soon. The Xiaomi 14 features a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, a 64MP main camera, a 16MP ultra-wide camera, a 5MP macro camera, and a 4,500mAh battery with 33W fast charging.
The report by Xiaomiui also claimed that the company has been actively developing the global ROM for the Xiaomi 14, which means that the device will get a global version. The Xiaomi 14 series will compete with the upcoming flagships from OnePlus, Vivo, and Samsung, which are expected to launch in January 2024.
Additionally, a tipster on Weibo revealed the colour options for the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. The device will reportedly come in three colours: blue, black, and orange. The blue colour will have a glass back, while the black and orange colours will have a silicone-like back.
Xiaomi has not officially announced the launch dates or the pricing of the Xiaomi 14 series for the global or Indian markets. However, based on the reports and leaks, it seems that the Xiaomi 14 Pro will be exclusive to China, while the Xiaomi 14 and Ultra variants will be available in select regions.
